A personal appeal to the Obama team tumblrers

image

Hi! Remember me? At the end of last year I led a successful campaign to get you guys to follow me. I don’t need to re-hash that tale. You know it already. Apparently you even love telling about it.

That campaign was not successful without the help of some lovely fellow tumblrers. Namely imwithkanye, who screencapped my post, the one that got your attention, that you eventually reblogged and caused you to follow me.

You have now reblogged imwithkanye multiple times, including today! The sad thing is: you don’t follow him. I think this is a major oversight on your part.

He would never tell you this. You see some people (imwithkanye, I’m assuming) are above begging. I, on the other hand, am not.

Some might say this appeal is me taking this Obama thing just a little too far. You already follow me so how dare I go out of my way to get you to start following my friends? I get that. But here’s the thing: I did not get here today, on tumblr, being followed by the President’s social media team without a little help from my friends.

Which is why I think you’ll understand when I ask: Will you please follow imwithkanye?

Mitt Romney tells an amusing story...

thebobert:

“One of most humorous I think relates to my father. You may remember my father, George Romney, was president of an automobile company called American Motors … They had a factory in Michigan, and they had a factory in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and another one in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,” said Romney. “And as the president of the company he decided to close the factory in Michigan and move all the production to Wisconsin. Now later he decided to run for governor of Michigan and so you can imagine that having closed the factory and moved all the production to Wisconsin was a very sensitive issue to him, for his campaign.”

Romney said he recalled a parade in which the school band marching with his father’s campaign only knew the Wisconsin fight song, not the Michigan song.

“So every time they would start playing ‘On, Wisconsin, On, Wisconsin,’ my dad’s political people would jump up and down and try to get them to stop, because they didn’t want people in Michigan to be reminded that my dad had moved production to Wisconsin,” said Romney, laughing.

…about his father firing workers in another state.  This guy’s a hell of a campaigner.

mar-see-ah replied to your post: Today in hating the world

maybe next time send the eggs with an adorable note asking them to return the carton to be refilled? Something that has the promise of more eggs vs the negative “where is my carton” might be more well received.

So, truth time: I had the nerdiest business cards ever for a zero dollar making business printed with recycle reminders just so I can attach them to future cartons. I would rather die than be negative or rude over an egg carton because I’m terribly non-confrontational. And my mama raised me better than that.

So unfortunately it’s true, I’m not actually a terrible person. I just play one on the internet.

Today in hating the world

People who live next door to me, send their adorable children* to ask for eggs, and still can’t be bothered to return my egg cartons when they’re finished are the worst.

Now I suppose I could just cut them off from eggs altogether but I really think it’d be more fun to send eggs in a plastic bag with a note that reads, “Find your own god damn carton, asshole.”

*It is cute that the kids love the chickens but I’m pretty sure one of those adorable children is going to lose a finger to Arlo. I’ve warned a child.

Do you keep up with the Kentucky women too? I ask for two reasons: 1) I'm more of a women's fan, and 2) y'all knocked off my Gonzaga Bulldogs on Sunday (expected, but still disappointing). :D

I do! I’m watching them play UConn right now on ESPN. (Psst, tune in UK fans if you haven’t already!) That will be a bit like David slaying Goliath but I’m hoping we can pull off the win. It’s been exciting to see both of our basketball teams experience so much success this season!

“I think this is a first at a dialysis center,” Lt. Robert Swanigan commented while handing over the police reports. Officers were called after a UK and UofL fan gave each other a full court press during treatment at the Georgetown Dialysis Clinic Monday. He just happened to think UofL would beat UK and he started to run his mouth,” explained dialysis patient Ed Wilson. Wilson also happens to be a self-proclaimed die hard UK fan. “That’s what started it.” But Charles Taylor, who was waiting to get hooked up to a machine saw things differently. “I didn’t talk to him about the ball game; I was talking to another guy about the game,” The UofL fan exclaimed. “He was meddling. And told me to shut up and gave me the finger!” —

Fist fight erupts between UK and UofL fans during Dialysis

I’m afraid we might not be Tumblr friends for a day if Kansas and Kentucky play in the final. Nothing personal, of course :)

We’ll be best tumblr frenemies that day. I just hope we both make it there. I’d be honored to have our team play Kansas on Monday night!

“

If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.

…I can only imagine what these parents are going through. And when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids. Every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this and that everybody pulls together — federal, state and local — to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened.

“When they get this deep in the tournament, some coaches see the good teams they’re playing and think up ways they’ll try to handle them,” said Calipari, whose Wildcats have beaten their first two opponents so badly he has played nearly his entire bench of reserves. “I, on the other hand, am going to stick with what has worked so far: putting players on the court who make their opponents look like inept children and who will, in a few months, collectively take in tens of millions of dollars in the first round of the NBA draft.” Calipari later admitted he will not even be attending Kentucky’s game against Indiana tonight, as it conflicts with a meeting he scheduled with top-ranked recruit Nerlens Noel.” —Kentucky Going To Stick With Strategy Of Having Far-And-Away Better Athletes At Every Position | The Onion

“I actually love that they’re back in a way because they’re the most similar fanbase to us in the country. The other big programs like Duke, Duke doesn’t have fans. They’re a bunch of like New Jersey nerds that come down and try to be fans. They’re nerds. Carolina is truly wine and cheese. They’ve got too much going on. They’ve got beaches; they’ve got stuff to do. They’re big fans but they’re hoity-toity. Indiana’s kind of our people. They’re desperate.” —Josh Hopkins, discussing the similarities between the Indiana and Kentucky fanbases during an interview this morning with Kentucky Sports Radio

“What do a retired Air Force colonel, a Catholic priest, and a Hollywood producer have to do with Amelia Earhart? They all believe she was secretly rescued from a Japanese prison, returned to the U.S., and assumed the identity of banker Irene Bolam until her death in 1982. In 2003, Col. Rollin Reineck published Amelia Earhart Survived, an incendiary book that relied on former Seton Hall president and Catholic priest James F. Kelley’s claims that he had helped bring Earhart back to the U.S. after the Japanese surrendered in 1945. The book also included Hollywood producer Tod Swindell’s photo-overlays, which “proved” that Earhart and Bolam’s features were “congruent.” The book built on an earlier work, Amelia Earhart Lives (1970), whose authors, Maj. Joe Gervais and Joe Klaas, were sued by Bolam for $1.5 million. They settled the case out of court.” —8 Crazy Conspiracy Theories About Aviator Amelia Earhart’s Demise - The Daily Beast
